Hi, i've been using the internet for some time now and it's like most of the good stuff are only available for those with credit card like mastercard, visa e.t.c. I've been wondering, how does one get a credit card in Nigeria, and the one that works too?
Do credit cards actually work for those living in Nigeria?

Many Nigerian merchants now offer credit cards for their clients. You could check with GTN resources at Opebi,
website: http://www.gtn-ng.com
Or you could also check with Standard trust bank now UBA plc ; http://www.ubaplc.com

@felucci, does the credit card offered by GTN carry a US address? And are there any hidden charges?

It does carry a us address and the charges you have to pay is a $20 set up fee plus, i guess a monthly $1 service fee. You could equally get a credit card from www.graphcard.com

But you can get prepaid cards with a U.S.A billing address and with your own name. You may visit their website @ www.gtn-ng.com.
Gtn resources is not that slow, at least 3 days and your card is ready

The requirements for getting a credit card is simple. For instance to get it at GTN Resources, all you need is:
- Your cash or dollar equivalent
- Your name
* Remember that you will be charged at a price higher than the actual amount on the card for you to get the virtual card. I guess it's their fee.

Credit cards are readily available nowadays through banks in Nigeria and for Nigerians. Only i don't know if these cards are accepted worldwide like paying for goods on Uk merchant websites. Try going to Ecobank

Passport USA, a fully Nigerian company with its operational headquarters in the United States of America has introduced an online shopping solution that allows consumers to purchase goods from any of the over three million online shops in the U.S. and have the goods delivered to their doorsteps in approximately four days.
They currently have a working arrangement with Zenith Bank to issue these debit cards which will help you make instant purchases online and have your goods delivered to you in Nigeria.

i think it depends on the bank where you got your credit card. If you check the mastercard website, you'd see that the only atms that accept credit cards in Nigeria arre those of Zenith bank's but i think you should be able to use any other bank card on those atm's for a fee since it's not their bank.

All it takes is for you to have some of that hard dollars to put in your account. Nigerian banks don't want to accept naira from customers to fund a dollar credit card. They would want you to get the dollars first before getting the card.

They are still in Opebi, 54 Opebi Road, Ikeja.
