Who are the webmasters and web designers that we have in Nigeria? I know that there are quite a lot. I'd like this to be a forum for all these talented nigerian web masters and designers.
I'd like to talk a bit about web design in Nigeria. What is website design? What does web designing entail? How does one find a good web designer? Is web design really profitable in Nigeria? And lots more.
Web design, i believe, involves the conceptualization and creation of a web. A web is a folder containing files (web pages) that are designed to run with a web browser.
Web designing requires a lot of skill and understanding of the basic web scripting languages such as html. The idea is not just to create a website that appears ok to the human eye, but also one that contains no errors such as broken links, missing tags, etc. It requires time, energy and meditation on the part of the designer.
Due to the increasing number of self acclaimed nigerian webmasters and web designers, it's getting pretty uneasy to differentiate between the good and the bad. I think the safest way to get the best ones is by client referral. i.e. trying to know who designed a particular site? But i guess that would be kinda biased as it would not let new talents to be discovered. Another way to find a good designer is by doing a web search on the search engines like Msn or google, and then viewing their portfolios.
Web designing and website administration tends to be getting less lucrative than before due to the fact that this sort of knowledge is becoming common by the day.

Web designers in Nigeria? I thought most of the web design work was carried out abroad by so called seasoned web designers and developers. I've hardly seen any big finanacial institution in Nigeria giving out web designing contracts to local professionals, for e.g the big 25 banks. If web designers have really come of age in nigeria, then i believe that these jobs need not be taken abroad. It only amounts to external drain of our resources and only increases economic poverty. I believe there are a lot of web designers in Nigeria who can equally do a nice job, afterall, in the computing field, we've got the best brains in the world, e.g Philip Emeagwali.

How can I convert my e-book to acrobat PDF format? I’ve written an informational e-book but it is still in Microsoft word format (.doc) but I don’t know how I can save it to a .PDF file extension. I’ve tried copying and pasting into acrobat but it has not been successful.

PHP is not that hard. Just go online to forums or sites like O'reilly and you'll see a whole lot of codes and tutorials about php coding. It's just like html and if you know html, knowing the basic algorithm, you'll find it easier to learn php using the basic rules. Working with dreamweaver as opposed to MS front page would make you better off .

Want to make money online as a web designer. There are many companies both small and big looking for people to design websites for them. Just know that you need a website of your own and you need to be online if you really want to be taken seriously. Have a nice looking website and you will make it.

There are two ways you can attract customers:
1. Online
2. Offline.
You can choose either or both. If Offline, you have to meet them or sent them introductory letters about your work and propose for a web design contract. marketing your skills.
If online, it would do you well to have a website to start with and then drive traffic to your site.

The easiest way I can suggest for you to learn about website designing is getting a computer of your own, installing Macromedia dreamweaver on it and learning the tutorials. This will help you create your first web page

This is a nice idea and all. But I feel you guys are mixing up Web designing and Web developer. Any one can create a website using Dreamweaver and Notepad and all (Web developer), but you have to be a true web designer to make images and beautiful websites using more than just HTML and CSS. Just thought I'll clarify that...
