it depends on what you need the credit card for. Is it a card for use in Nigeria alone or for making online purchases from worldwide merchants like Amazon.com or ebay?

i doubt if you could use credit cards by Nigerian banks for making online purchases. They are typically ATM cards and i wonder who requests or them.

Merchants in the U.S. do not accept credit cards from Nigeria especially with a Nigerian address. Infact, you should ask the banks if you could use these cards for making internet payments like at Amazon.com

i used Intercontinental banks prepaid Mastercard at an ATM when i travelled to China. The experience was awesome. Imagine the joy of using my Nigerian credit card anywhere i am in the world. You could also use the card for internet payments since they are prepaid. You may not need to be carrying a traveller's cheque anymore, cos in these cities, it's all about swiping and shopping!

Ofcourse you could use these cards for online purchases. It is a prepaid mastercard and can be used on the internet. i think the main drawback is that most people would prefer to have them in lower denominations rather than $100.

credit cards are simply plastic cards containing a certain amount of credit in them. Each card is unique by means of the it's number (12 - 16 digits) but can be categorized in groups or class. Some cards can give you access to only a few hundred dollars, while others can give you a lifeline of about 1million dollars which normally attracts a higher premium. However in Nigeria, we have many banks offering a branded from of credit card from Mastercard and they work with an account balance which you would need to maintain. People and indeed many enterprising young Nigerians have used this credit line opportunity to have more access to funds in buying stuff like shares while awaiting their monthly salary to offset their credit bills, although not many people are aware of this. If you're able to scale through the requirements for opening a credit account in any of these banks, you could start having access to most of the funds in the baking industry.

why are more and more Nigerians searching for credit card numbers and email addresses most of the time. i would say; not all of them do so for the right reasons.

Getting a valid credit card requires that you go throught the right people. I mean reliable and efficient people who are transparent in their dealings with the public. You need to know some of the main things before getting a card and identifying which is valid and which is not;
-The type of card - whether credit or debit card
-the validity period
-the opening balance
-the charges if any such as usage, monthly
-the other services rendered such as balance checking, billing statements, and if a middleman is involved.
-the brand name of the card; whether Mastercard, Visa, American express
-Mode of paying for the card. e.t.c.
You need to at least have the above basic information before applying for a card from anybody. Some firms charge lots of hidden charges on credti cards they offer to their clients, some offer you a shorter validity period and this may not augur well for you if you are paying for a long term subcription and not just a quick buy.

Credit card issues have become like a thing of the past. MOST BANKS now offer credit cards for genuine credit card users. Alternatively, since the opening for most banks is $100, there are other small time local credit card providers who offer them for a lower fee or balance, say $40 or even $10.

Getting one at a bank is more reliable, although it may take a month before your card is ready.
