I wonder why many Nigerians are so eager about getting a paypal account. The truth is that Paypal does not work in Nigeria and the only way to operate a paypal account in this country is if you use a fake ip address and trick Paypal. How about when you want to receive your funds or withdraw from Paypal? Then you would need to send your money to someone who also has a Paypal account and can buy your funds with naira. That is what I've seen all these paypal agents do. You are not actually able to have full access to your account or what a normal paypal account can do for you. You are always in the fear that Paypal may discover that you are using an fake ip location and may close your account. Maybe for people with smaller funds, it would be easy to just open a paypal account with $100 and risk it. But what if someone wants to do real business online in Nigeria with a Paypal account and has funds of up to $5000. It just will not make sense to use a paypal account unless you are not selling to Nigerians sine majority do not have the account. If someone is doing a legitimate business and selling to a global audience, the other way I've seen Nigerians opening a paypal account is by using a foreign address and at the same time using a foreign bank account. Now with the coming of Paypal in Kenya and South Africa, with fuller services, I think opening a paypal account in Nigeria through these agents will get cheaper. But really why would any Nigerian want to have a Paypal account if you are doing serious business. It is better using an Alertpay account or Liberty reserve. That would make more sense. If you are in Nigeria and still want to get a Paypal account by whatever means, then feel free to do so but it is very risky to do so. Even those who will provide you with the services in Nigeria would not give any insurance to your Paypal funds assuming anything happens to it. Better use Alertpay, 2checkout or Libert reserve.

I have tried it myself because I wanted to add paypal to my forum at http://www.netcashforum.com but to no avail. Is there anything that can be done to create an account in spite of this?
