A Nigerian forum is a place for discussion where new topics are generated and debated upon. Replies or responses are made on posted topics while new ones can also be posted. It's like a message board, but it also includes user feedback by a Nigerian who visits the site. It should not just be interactive but also attractive so as to enjoy goodwill from the Nigerian public. The topics to be discussed upon certainly have to be Nigerian related issues ranging from either politics, religion, business, fashion e.t.c. for a general forum or specific issues like education for an education based forum and politics for a Nigerian political forum.
Ever since the advent of the internet in Nigeria , many Nigerian forum based websites have been introduced online and they've been growing over the years while new are just entering the business. The goal here is not to mention these Nigerian sites by name but to do a sort of general appraisal on their forum. While some offer efficient services by doing constant updates and increasing hosting space, others stick to simple forms without much options. These Nigerian forums however use programs like perl scripts, php based scripts, asp based scripts, however, php based forums has been seen to become most popular by Nigerian webmasters.
This could be due to the many options and ease which it offers, both to the Nigerian forum visitor and its administrator. A lot of these online Nigerian forums are "just beautiful" but nothing near efficient. I believe a Nigerian forum should first and foremost be all about simple texts (with their corresponding replies), and then other additives would follow such as navigation, colors, e.t.c. It should also offer access to Nigerians who desire to utilize a wap based forum version.
The relationship and political arena appears to be the most popularly visited pages on such forums, perhaps due to the present democratic activity presently operating in Nigeria . People want to talk about President Obasanjo and his crew, some to defend, others to prosecute. Youths mainly who have most of the space and time also want to talk about relationships with their peers. All these are healthy, but the moderator/administrator should also know about publishing rules and hence avoid unnecessary law suits y moderating opinions posted on their sites and deleting any fraudulent or slanderous statements that could even lead to anarchy in Nigeria or amount to treason.
These Nigerian forums have a greater advantage to generate revenue from their websites by producing services for advert placements and links for other online businesses. Nigeria has not become entirely caught up with the internet idea of business, many still believe in cash and carry for tangible goods and not visual goods on the internet. However, this perception is going to be history as we proceed further into the future.
An online Nigerian forum is an ideal way of improving social communications as it brings as it brings to earth one of the beneficiary aspects of the internet; to enhance information exchange, irrespective of location. It improves unity between Nigerians throughout the world.
There is a need to establish a central and truly Nigerian forum on the internet which will be known by most Nigerians as the primary destination each time they are online. Families and friends can connect, share views and also inform others. Talk about and issue where people discussed about fraud perpetuated by courier services in Nigeria who double charge by also collecting fees from the receiver of goods sent from the U.S. .. These issues can be educative and a vital source of information. All these and many more make the participation in such a noble forum as that of Nigerians, worthwhile.

The idea towards achieving a truly Nigerian forum seems to be proliferating everywhere, what's going on? Seems to me to be a very competitive future that we're gonna have in Nigeria. I guess 'd like to have my own website to pursue some sort of goal soon.

Competition is healthy, abi? Whether it's for a nigerian forum, web hosting, online shopping, etc. I believe every literate nigerian should have a website.

I think in this forum, Nigerians would be able to find a meeting spot, wherever there may be, for the purpose of exchanging ideas, information and other goodies. Nigeria is getting bigger in the world both as an economic power and a symbol of hope for the black race worldwide.
