I would like to buy an Apple iPad from the official website but I'm not yet decided on whether to engrave it or not. What are the benefits of engraving it?

A lot of people do buy iPads but not all of them buy it from the Apple official store which offers free shipping to residents in the USA.

I noticed that this is the same scenario in Nigeria as there is a growing number of ipads users already, although most of them do buy second hand iPads and at a high price too but they still don't have their names engraved on their iPads.

Well, I happened to take a visit to the official Apple store and noticed that one of the free services they offer is a free name engraving for buyers and this coupled together with a free shipping to a USA address, makes it worthwhile having.

Why are many iPad buyers then not so bothered about having their names engraved on their iPads?

I think there are some benefits of engraving your name on an iPad and this includes:

- Uniqueness: iPad engravings are unique so you'd be able to identify your iPad apart from the rest of other iPads. This is mostly useful is you live with people who also have iPads and you don' want yours to get mixed up with others.

- Unattractive to theft: Engraved iPads are less likely to be stolen than clean ones.

- It's free: Apple offers engraving to buyers for free so you can add your name and address or even write a special message on it for free.

- It can serve as a gift message and souvenir: Engraving it removes the need for including a card when sending the iPad as a gift. You may wish someone a happy wedding, happy birthday, happy graduation and so on. This will make them remember you for a long time or every time they use that device.
