How to make money online in Ghana

The thing most internet savvy Ghanaians would love to know is how they can make online, from the internet. The www and literacy about it is spreading in West Africa, Ghana inclusive. People are beginning to see the internet as a newer means of leisure but as knowledge has continued to grow across Africa about how to use this medium to make money online, Ghana is not excluded.
There are many ways to make money online in Ghana but you would need a solid presence on the web to do this.
- One sure certain way is by blogging.
Blogging involves writing about topics everyday and the more stories you have to tell, the more space you have to advertise and hence the more money you can make.
- Ghanaians can also catch in on the profits to be made online by investing in a corporate website to help advertise your business. If you already have a business, a website can help advertise your goods or line of work thereby bringing you more orders or customers. Your website may not necessary be too attractive or allow for e-commerce but it can be a brochure type website that will display your goods and services 24-7 to people in Ghana. All you may need to do later would be to drive traffic to your site by appending your web address to your receipts or mini publications or notices in your office. Ghanians would find it easy to relate or reconnect back to you without having to be physically present at your office.
- Web hosting: There is increasing demand for web hosting companies in Ghana who can provide 24 hours reliable and affordable web hosting by the growing African web community. It would be good to have a website that will offer these services and provide a means of recieving payments like Liberty reserve or Graphcard if the client is located outside Ghana.
- Writing articles - Even if you don't have a website, you can write articles about highly researched topics on requested topics and sell them to blogs, some of who normally pay for them. You can also join search for article writing jobs on Guru.com or other sites. There you can be requested to big for articles and make a presentation in Word format and if you win the bid, you could be asked to write articles with like 1000 words. They pay per word.
There are many other ways to make money online in Ghana like building directories, tourist information sites or educational stuff where you can also get online advertisers like Google, Pepperjam or Adbrite to help pay for adverts. You will need to map out a plan that works for you

You don't need to create your own blog. You can get a domain name registered first and then sign up with a blogging platform like blogger.com or wordpress. It will publish automatically to your site when you post. You will also need to get a web host.

You can begin offering web hosting if you know how to set up a hosting server at home or you can equally become a reseller for popular web hosts like netfirms, bluehosts or Yahoo.

It is not easy to run a blog in Ghana and be successful like other bloggers in developed countries unless maybe your target audience is beyond Ghana. There are not many web visitors that will be coming to your site from Ghana since the accessibility and literacy about the internet is relatively low. The main issue will then be in blogging about issues or topics that will be of interest to visitors from developed countries. How does one get the topic then and the knowledge to write about things that are not within one's particular environment. Bloggin about global celebrities like Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie would earn some income but this would not be a familiar topic for a Ghanaian to blog about. Google adsense is a nice way to make money online but there are other factors to consider such as geographical location.

That brings to mind the fact that you still need to do a lot of research about Ghana. The more you know about what thrills Ghanaians, what they are searching for on the internet, the better for you. You don't have to blog about foreign issues to make money online in Ghana. The more you know about Ghana and its people, the more money you stand to make from web visitors. Even if the internet literacy is relatively low, you can still make more people to visit your website if they find your blog worth coming to. You may also focus on tourists and what they are searching on the web about Ghana like hotels, eateries, the exchange rate and all, that would also be a god niche. One tool I would recommend to you in finding trends for searches is Google trends

You can create a blog by simply getting a good web host that also offers blog hosting. Their software will allow you to set up your own blog. You can also have a blog designed for you by a web designer or get one for free at blogspot.com

How much you can make online depends on how many posts you can make on your blog a day. For a start, with 500 quality articles written by you, you can publish them to your blog and it may take three months to start making money with it. Then you will sign up with Google adsense or Adbrite to get paid for ads. You could be making $100 a month if you are just begining but this will grow exponentially. It may cost you about $10 to get a domain name, then hosting for around $50 everything totalling about $60 a year but you shold be able to make more than that in a year as profit.

Everybody needs money and more and more people would love to make money easily online, but the truth is that it doesn't come that easy. To make money online, you need a website to start with, a product and a payment platform. @Chris, It depends on your online income source, but most of them like Google adsense pay your in US dollars and you will need to cash it in a domicilliary account

I would really recommend that you use Alertpay or Liberty reserve. Don't waste your time with Paypal. If you still insiste on Paypal, then you can get an account using a South African address since the services are fully available there now

You don't really need a paypal account in order to make money online. There are other payment options and it all doesn't have to be online. There is alertpay, liberty reserve, 2checkout, international cheque, bank wire and so on
